The Mediterranean Jazz & Supper Club Ends Their Reign with the Dynamic Paul Taylor
With an incredible two nights at the Mediterranean Jazz Club, performing for a sold out crowd, Paul Taylor entertained at a level that raised the bar for smooth jazz musicians!
On December 14-15, 2019, Paul Taylor performed two jammed-packed shows at the Mediterranean Jazz & Supper Club, which closed out the venue with an overwhelming success! The band included Kay-Ta Matsuno (guitar), Tateng Katindig (keys), Jermone Randall (bass), Tony Moore (drums), and Sunday Night Carnell Harrell (keys). Both nights the crowd delighted in Taylor’s magical playing and high energy onstage. Not only did he display proficient jazz chops, the amazing saxophonist was filled with his entertainment as he danced, while blowing us away on his instrument. (All images by Sheryl Aronson.)
On Saturday night, Chuck Dennis (Founder of the Oxnard Jazz Festival) celebrated his birthday at the Mediterranean Jazz Club. Before the concert began, Chuck Dennis gave Duvell Chase (CEO of Pro Marketing and Management), a plaque commemorating Duvell’s excellence for promoting live music in San Diego. It was a bittersweet moment, because this concert marked the last one that Pro Marketing would be producing at this venue.
As an entertainment journalist for Schmooze Jazz magazine, I would also like to congratulate and acknowledge Duvell Chase as a first-class promoter of smooth jazz music in San Diego. He and his staff have worked very hard in giving the audiences superb entertainment. I have had the honor of covering many of these concerts over the last two years, including the NAMM Jam 2019 (Bryan Thompson, Jeff Ryan & Adrian Crutchfield), Marcus Anderson, Elan Trotman, Althea Rene, Greg Manning, Tony Exum, Dee Lucas and many more.
